The second session of the “Play Forward” seminar series, organised in collaboration between the Sports Studies Centre and the football strategy initiative Loba and focusing on sustainability in sport, has taken place.
The second event of the series, held on Saturday, 29 November at the Cibali Campus of Kadir Has University, addressed the theme “Green Investments: Does Reducing Carbon Footprint Enhance Your Credibility?” The panel was moderated by Elif Aslı Koç Tiryaki, founder of the LOBA Football Strategy Initiative, and the speakers were Mert Güller, Co-Founder of 3P Metrics, and Ali Çelikkıran, Stadium Operations Director of Galatasaray SK Ali Sami Yen Sports Complex Rams Park.
As the first regular seminar series in the Turkish sports ecosystem with a focus on sustainability, Play Forward aims to increase awareness around sustainability and bring this topic onto the sporting agenda. At the same time, the panel series serves as a strong networking and knowledge-sharing platform: participants have the opportunity to closely observe sustainability practices implemented in the sector while also building new connections.
Although participation in the seminars is free of charge, in line with our vision of creating social impact and awareness, participants who complete the online registration process are expected to make a donation to a non-governmental organisation working in the field of sustainability. Once registered participants share the receipt of their donation (with the amount entirely at their own discretion), their registration is finalised.
Through this approach, the aim is to transform Play Forward from being merely a knowledge-sharing platform into a solidarity initiative that directly contributes to social benefit.
Details of the other seminars in the series, which will continue until January 2026, will be announced in the coming days.
