The 36th event of the Sports Studies Center (SCM) Seminar Series—the seminar titled “The Role of Sport in International Relations”—has taken place.
At the 36th event of the SCm Seminar Series, which to date has hosted many topics at the intersection of sport and the social sciences, the theme “The Role of Sport in International Relations” was discussed. The event was held at Kadir Has University’s Cibali Campus, with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Emrah Karaoğuz (Kadir Has University) as the speaker.
Sharing his work with participants—also a TÜBİTAK project—Assoc. Prof. Dr. Karaoğuz addressed topics including the conceptualization of sports diplomacy, its objectives and methods, prominent sports diplomacy strategies around the world, and the role sport plays in Türkiye’s foreign relations as well as in shaping the country’s global/regional image.
The event progressed in an interactive format throughout; participants both directed their questions to Karaoğuz and shared their views on the discussed themes.
